MEET KRISWith over 32 years of dedicated experience in family law, including 25 years exclusively in Marin County, I have built my career on advocating for clients, fostering professional relationships, and continually expanding my legal knowledge. Having represented more than 1,500 men and women, I approach each case with a focus on resolving disputes outside of court when possible. However, when litigation is necessary, I am a trusted and respected advocate who fiercely protects my clients' rights.
My extensive experience spans from negotiation and settlement to trials, addressing issues such as property division, domestic violence, child custody, and visitation. Clients receive not only the legal expertise they deserve but also the emotional support they need during some of the most challenging times in their lives. I believe in the power of open and honest communication and that you, as the client, know your family’s needs best. My goal is to listen intently, understand your concerns, and propose solutions tailored to your unique situation. My own experience as a child of divorce shapes my approach to family law. I witnessed firsthand the complexities of navigating family transitions, having moved seven times across four states by the age of nine. Although my parents maintained a relationship that helped me and my brother manage the emotional aspects, each family’s journey is different. This personal insight allows me to approach cases with both professional and empathetic perspectives. In addition to my legal practice, I understand the importance of affordable representation. Having worked at a nonprofit legal organization for 20 years, I offer limited scope representation for those who need to keep legal fees manageable. I currently serve as the President-Elect of the Board of Directors for the Marin County Bar Association, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Community Violence Solutions. Additionally, I am a member of the Rally Family Visitation Services Advisory Board. Previously, I was appointed by the Marin County Superior Court to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Marin County Law Library, a position I held from 2018 to 2023. From 2006 to 2016, I represented District Five (Novato) on the Marin Women's Commission, where I served as Chair for two terms. During my time on the Commission, I co-founded and co-chaired the Marin Teen Girl Conference for seven years (2011–2017). I have also served on the Board of Directors for Youth Transforming Justice (formerly Marin Youth Court). For additional information about my community involvement, please click here. |
